Winfield, Ill., January 28, 2013 – Cadence Health, the health system created through the merger of Central DuPage Health and Delnor Community Health System, has embarked on a relationship with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana (RMHC®-CNI) to build the first Ronald McDonald House® in Chicago’s western suburbs. Scheduled to open in 2015, the Ronald McDonald House® near Cadence Health – CDH Campus will provide a ‘home away from home’ for the families of children being treated at Central DuPage Hospital (CDH), Delnor Hospital and the cancer campus in Warrenville.
“Through this relationship, we will be able to offer a comfortable and supportive respite for our patients and their families,” said Mike Vivoda, President and Chief Executive Officer, Cadence Health. “Being surrounded by family is an important part of the healing process and the Ronald McDonald House near Cadence Health – CDH Campus can help alleviate stress on families and allow them to focus on their child’s health care needs.”
The Ronald McDonald House near Cadence Health – CDH Campus will feature approximately 12 private bedrooms and bathrooms, along with a communal living room, kitchen, dining room, recreational spaces, and laundry facilities. The House is tentatively planned to be built on Winfield Road, directly west of CDH with construction beginning in early 2014.
Cadence Health will be supporting the project with fundraising efforts managed by Cadence Health Foundation, supported by a generous commitment by Central DuPage Hospital’s Auxiliary to raise $5-million for this project.
“Providing care and comfort to families of hospitalized children when they need it most is the mission of our organization, and we are thrilled to add the families of Cadence Health to the Ronald McDonald House community,” said Doug Porter, Chief Executive Officer, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana. “This will be our fifth House in Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, enabling us to provide support to even more families.”
